Below are frequently asked questions (FAQ) about the Acupuncture training in Lagos and Abuja

What is Acupuncture?

Acupuncture involves the insertion of very thin needles through the skin at strategic points in the body and it is increasingly used for overall wellness including stress management. It originated from Chinese/Oriental medicine who traditionally explain it as technique for balancing energy flow referred to a Chi or Qi believed to flow through the pathways (meridians) in the body. By inserting needles into specific points, practitioners believe the energy flow would re-balance. Western medicine practitioners view acupuncture points as regions to stimulate nerves, muscles and connective tissue with the intention to stimulate the body’s natural painkillers.

What conditions can Acupuncture be used for ?

  • Osteoarthritis
  • Neck Pain
  • Lower back pain
  • Labour pain

What is the training course?

It is an opportunity to invest in yourself with a 3-day hands-on certification course open to Physiotherapists only. Upon registration, participants would be given pre-course modules to study in preparation for the hand-on session. The hands-on session would be live demonstrations and practical sessions where participants would be grouped and use themselves as models. Needles would be provided for these practical demonstrations. Upon completion of the 3-day course, participants would be required to submit 6 case studies and send to the instructor who would give feedback and mentorship support. It is upon satisfactory completion of the 6 case studies that certificates would be issued out.

This training course would be done in both Lagos and Abuja. Lagos would hold June 2023 and Abuja details are coming soon, likely to be in July 2023.

Why you should invest in yourself as a Physiotherapist:

Are there any additional costs?

Successful completion of the 7 case studies requires the use of acupuncture needles. Participants would need to purchase those needles and may choose to do at N20,000 for 100 needles from the organizers.

Would food be provided during the training session?

The payment plan that is chosen would determine if food would be provided or not to the participant. This option was done to mitigate the price so it is not too prohibitive cost-wise for people to participate.
